Creating A Positive Mindset

I truly believe that being a positive person is such an important factor that people miss when trying to implement something new into their lives. It will help promote a growth mindset around the idea that what you are doing will actually help and give you the results you are looking for.


Try implementing these five steps to creating a positive mindset.


Step One: Believe a Positive Attitude is a Choice

I feel that this is one of the most important steps to start with. We can always choose the way we perceive things in life so it is up to your to decide whether something will make or break you. Not every situation has to be a positive but finding the positive in any situation and focusing on that will be the important part here. Some people may think this makes others naive but I believe that if you understand the full situation, accept the bad, allow the good to enter, you will find peace in any situation.


Step Two: Rid Your Life of Negativity

This is the part that we will all struggle with the most. It is difficult to cut out negativity in our lives because we have accepted it for so long. We allow others to load their problems onto us but do not consider how it is actually affecting our own mental health. It is never bad to help others but if we are only helping and giving, we will soon have nothing left to give to anyone, including ourselves. This could also apply to inanimate objects like junk around the house, unorganized schedules, etc. Find anything that gives you a negative mindset or a little bit of stress and figure out how you can rid your life of it.


Step Three: Look For the Positive in Life

This will go back to step one. When you start to encounter negative situations, look for the positive in it. Try making a list at the end of each day of 3-5 positive things that happened to you that day.


Step Four: Reinforce Positivity in Yourself

This is something that I believe a lot of people really struggle with. This is where we need to start being a little more selfish with our time. We need to really focus on planning in time that we are doing things we actually like. We are usually so focused on making sure that everyone around us is happy and taken care of but we sometimes forget to make sure we are taking care of ourselves and that we are also happy.


Step Five: Share Positivity with Others

This step is usually the easiest for people. Share positivity with others by complimenting people, pointing out good things that happened, and finding ways to make other people happy. Many times, the more positivity that you spread, the more joy you will feel in your day to day life.


Take each step seriously. Do not try to rush this and anticipate these steps taking time to work. I would give each part a couple of weeks to work. Try implementing one step per week and seeing how that serves you.
